California Cultural Arts District Sponsored by the California Arts Council

The San Pedro Arts & Cultural District's peninsula geography lends a pocket-sized town atmosphere despite belonging to the nation's second largest city. The celebrated core of downtown San Pedro has been renting to artists since the 1940s, with studios in storefronts and warehouses alike.The district is anchored by the celebrated Warner Grand Theatre, an art deco movie palace that serves the community and the region as a performing art center and independent film house. Many of the downtown area's commercial buildings house creative person studios, arts organizations, work/live options and pocket-size, independent music venues similar The M Annex and Sardine.

The Angels Gate Cultural Middle offers studios in former ground forces barracks for more than l artists of all disciplines. Crafted, a permanent weekend market with handmade apparel, dwelling decor and nutrient goods, houses a plethora of artists with space and marketing to sell their artwork at the Port of Los Angeles. Vacant spaces remain open to new artists and organizations, providing more opportunities and promise to abound the district's arts culture.

These nontraditional spaces offering regular arts events, with monthly art openings and classes in settings all over the district. For twenty years, the community has participated in a First Th ArtWalk, 1 of the kickoff in the region. Thousands of local residents show up every First Thursday to celebrate the visual arts, socialize, and patronize participating restaurants.
